LSO St Luke's Unveils Multi-Million-Pound Renovation

LSO St Luke's, the Grade I-listed headquarters of the London Symphony Orchestra, has reopened following a substantial renovation by Levitt Bernstein. Originally constructed in 1733 as St Luke's Church, the structure fell into disrepair before being revitalized as the orchestra's base in 2003. The recent upgrades preserve its original charm while enhancing technical capabilities, acoustics, and public areas. A state-of-the-art Audio Control Room now boasts a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 system, ATC speakers, and an Avid S4 console, facilitating orchestral recordings, podcasts, and broadcasts. Additionally, the Jerwood Hall received acoustic improvements, while the Clore Rooms and Master Control Room now feature advanced digital recording options. Enhancements to the entrance, lighting, accessibility, and gender-neutral facilities aim to create a more inviting atmosphere. Managing Director Kathryn McDowell remarked that the renovations allow for a completely new experience of the venue, which has welcomed artists like Elton John, Annie Lennox, and Bruce Springsteen.
