Louise Kennedy's 'RED' Launches in Germany with October Reading Tour

Louise Kennedy's second novel 'RED' will be published by Claassen on September 24, 2024, and is already being hailed as a highlight of the autumn book season. The novel follows fifteen-year-old Róisín in 1980s Ireland, who forms a friendship with the brilliant but unpredictable Red. Both are part of an emigration wave leaving a country that offers them little. As Róisín tries to build a life, Red descends into self-destruction, exploring the impossibility of saving others. Kennedy, who grew up near Belfast and worked as a chef for nearly thirty years before writing, gained recognition with her 2021 short stories. Her debut novel 'Übertretung' (2023) was nominated for the Women's Prize for Fiction, became an international bestseller, and was adapted for Channel 4. Kennedy will embark on a German reading tour in October 2024, with stops in Frankfurt (October 5, Hessisches Literaturforum im Mousonturm), Wiesbaden (October 6, Literaturhaus Villa Clementine), Hannover (October 8, Leuenhagen & Paris), Göttingen (October 9, Literaturhaus Göttingen), Berlin (October 10, Georg Büchner Buchladen), Leipzig (October 11, naTo – Soziokulturelles Zentrum), and Dresden (October 12, Haus des Buches).
