Louis Vuitton Monterey watch returns as runway charm at SS27 show

Louis Vuitton reintroduced the Monterey watch on the SS27 Paris runway, now in ceramic versions. Originally launched in 1988 as the brand's first watch, designed by Italian architect Gae Aulenti, the Monterey is a lugless gold pebble with a crown at twelve o'clock. A 2025 re-edition in 18-karat yellow gold preceded this fashion crossover. At Pharrell Williams's S/S 2027 men's show, two ceramic versions—glossy black and bold green—were presented as charms tied to runway looks, not worn on wrists. This reflects a trend of mechanical watches becoming decorative objects, as seen with Daniel Arsham's Hublot and Swatch Audemars Piguet collaborations. The ceramic Monterey retains the original silhouette and will be available in stores from September 26.
