Long-Lost Harpo Marx Recording Released After Decades in Mislabeled Archive

A rare recording of Harpo Marx speaking publicly for the first time in 50 years has been discovered and released. The recording was made on March 20, 1964, at a Riverside Symphony benefit concert in Los Angeles, where Harpo performed on harp and then spoke, introduced Peter and the Wolf with jokes by Groucho, and delivered a version of 'Red's Speech.' This was his final public performance; he died six months later. The tape was mislabeled as 'Harpo's farewell speech' and preserved by Allan Sherman's son, Robert, who recorded it at age 12. Marx Brothers archivist John Tefteller discovered the error in 2020. The restored album, 'Harpo Speaks! The Riverside Symphony Concert,' is now available on CD and vinyl from Ramseur Records, co-produced by Robert Bader and Daniel Coston. The release reveals a side of the silent comedian never before heard by the public.
