London Symphony Orchestra releases new album of Prokofiev's Seventh Symphony under Gianandrea Noseda
A self-released album by the London Symphony Orchestra showcases Sergei Prokofiev's Symphony No. 7, under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda. Composed in 1952 during a difficult period for Prokofiev, this symphony, often referred to as the 'Children's Symphony,' evokes a sense of longing for youth and had its premiere in Moscow posthumously in October 1952. In 1957, it was awarded the Lenin Prize. Prokofiev, who was born in 1891 in the Russian Empire, studied with Rimsky-Korsakov and Lyadov, returned to the Soviet Union in 1936, and passed away on March 5, 1953.
