LOHA Architecture Firm Implements Collective Ownership Model Including Directors and Associates
Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects (LOHA), established in 1994 by its founder Lorcan O'Herlihy, has introduced a collective ownership framework that incorporates directors and associates into the firm's corporate structure. The architectural practice, which maintains offices in Los Angeles and Detroit, announced this organizational shift to recognize the contributions of key team members. Seven individuals are part of this new ownership arrangement: Brian Adolph, Abel Garcia, Ghazal Khezri, Jason King, Nicholas Muraglia, Kevin Murray, and Geoffrey Sorrell. According to a firm statement, these professionals have significantly influenced the studio's projects and cultural environment over extended periods, justifying their inclusion. Founder Lorcan O'Herlihy emphasized that the ownership model should align with the individuals who actively advance the studio's daily operations, noting the team's dedication to producing exceptional architectural work. Recent completed projects by LOHA include a dance facility at Chapman University in Orange, California; a residential building in Raleigh, North Carolina; and four corner structures at Detroit's City Modern development. At City Modern, the firm designed building masses that gradually decrease in height toward neighboring structures, with one corner building featuring wood cladding for biophilic qualities and others finished in vibrant red. Current design work includes a housing development in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and an arts center in Detroit's Old Redford district. Director Ghazal Khezri described the firm's essence as rooted in its collaborative team and shared creative output, expressing enthusiasm for continuing to innovate and shape the studio's direction under this new ownership chapter.
