Logan Lynn's 'The Pain and The Power' Documentary and Soundtrack Released via PortuGAY

Logan Lynn, a Portland artist, activist, and queer provocateur, has unveiled "The Pain and The Power," a documentary paired with a soundtrack released through PortuGAY, the LGBTQ+ label of KNIK Records, established by Portugal. Directed by Cai Indermaur, the project abandons conventional linear storytelling, utilizing Lynn's extensive musical history as a narrative framework. It explores issues such as religious trauma, addiction, self-reinvention, and the immediate dangers confronting queer and trans individuals, highlighted by the politically charged track "AMERIKKKA." The album includes collaborations with Kyle Andrews, Brian Fortson, and Dale Hiscock, along with a rendition of Paul Williams' "Rainbow Connection." A fire that struck Burn Money Music Studio during production underscored the project's theme of impermanence. In September, Lynn will conduct advance screenings and Q&As throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, discussing the tracks' dual nature, music's role in survival, and the significance of community dialogue around the film's subjects.
