Liturgical Artist Creates Paper Lace Lantern Installation for Advent Series

Hannah Garrity, a liturgical artist for the Montreat Conference Center, designed paper lace banners that can be transformed into large-scale lantern installations. These works were created for the 'What do you fear?' Advent series, where lanterns symbolize hope amid fear. Garrity previously used these banner designs in a 'Christmas in July' installation during the Summer Worship Series at Montreat, incorporating purple paper and other materials to create lanterns from the original designs. The installation demonstrates how simple materials like paper and string lights can become significant art pieces for worship spaces.
