Linus Rebmann Trio Releases Debut Album 'Listen To The River'

The Linus Rebmann Trio has released its debut album, 'Listen To The River,' on Jazzhaus Records. The trio, consisting of pianist and bandleader Linus Rebmann, bassist Gabriel Widmaier, and drummer Johnny Walker, met in the Landesjugendjazzorchester Baden-Württemberg. After winning the 'Jugend jazzt South-West' competition in 2024, they were awarded the Studiopreis of Deutschlandfunk at the subsequent Bundesbegegnung, enabling them to record in the renowned Kammermusiksaal of Deutschlandfunk in Cologne. The album features ten original compositions recorded in an intimate setting using a single main microphone without post-production corrections. On the final recording day, saxophonist Paul Heller, a member of the WDR Big Band, joined the trio for two tracks, 'The Walker' and 'Walking Birds.' The title track draws inspiration from Hermann Hesse's 'Siddhartha,' while 'Scotty's Case' references Alfred Hitchcock's 'Vertigo' and Mozart's 'Dissonanzenquartett.' The album explores themes of movement, stillness, and contemplation.
