Liceo Bafile's Student-Artist Contemporary Art Collection Expands in L'Aquila
A contemporary art collection of about sixty works has been established at Liceo Bafile in L'Aquila, Italy, initiated by artist Licia Galizia in 2010 after the 2009 earthquake. Galizia invited Italian artists to create site-specific works, engaging students in the process. The collection debuted in December 2025 during L'Aquila's term as Italian Capital of Culture and is now guided by student docents, focusing on themes of rebirth. In 2023, 50 posters for 'Dal buio alla luce' were added, dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. A new chapter opens in 2026 with seven new works planned. Collaborations include L'Accademia di Belle Arti di L'Aquila and GSSI.
