Lexar Muse: World's Thinnest SSD Uses Magnetic Connector Instead of USB-C
Lexar has introduced the Muse, which is touted as the world's thinnest portable SSD. At its slimmest point, it measures just 1mm, making it comparable to a credit card, while the thickest part reaches 3.8mm—almost 2mm slimmer than the iPhone Air’s body. The dimensions are 80 x 48 x 3.8mm. To create this ultra-thin design, Lexar employs a unique single-piece construction, a specially designed PCB, and tapered edges. Instead of a traditional USB-C port, it uses a proprietary PogoPin magnetic connection and a SnapLink Magnetic cable, achieving speeds up to 1,050 MB/s for reading and 1,000 MB/s for writing. Available in 512GB and 1TB, the Muse is expected to launch in Q4 2026, though prices remain unknown amid rising flash storage costs.
