Leijia Hanrahan's posthumous poetry collection launches in NYC

This evening at Ridgewood Commons in New York City, they’re launching a posthumous anthology called "like songs about airports," which highlights the work of critic Leijia Hanrahan. Hanrahan, who lived from 1987 until her death in 2022, made a significant impact as a geographer, poet, essayist, and writer for AN. Elaine Kahn curated this collection, which features her poetry and selections from outlets like The Baffler and The Architect’s Newspaper. The book was produced with contributions from James Murphy, Nick Smaligo, and Mia Beach, while Madeline Lane-McKinley wrote the introduction and Beck Levy penned the afterword. Supported by Kate Wagner and Jackie Wang, it explores topics such as soccer, climate anxiety, and late capitalism, with proceeds going to the Poetry Field School's Leijia Hanrahan Scholarship for Communist Women Smokers.
