Lectric XPress2 Ebike Review: Nimble Cruiser with Powerful Motor

The Lectric XPress2, an update to the XPress, is a versatile ebike priced at $1,784. It comes standard with a 750-watt motor (up to 1,310 watts peak) and is available in Commuter or Cruiser frame styles. The Cruiser model tested features a Dutch step-through design. The bike offers five power modes, a thumb throttle, and programmable pedal-assist sensor (torque or cadence). It can be set to Class 1, 2, or 3 (up to 28 mph). The 3.5-inch LCD display shows power, battery, and trip info. The 48V battery (6.4 lbs) charges in under 7 hours, claiming up to 60 miles range; actual range was just over 30 miles for a 250-lb rider on hills. The bike weighs 66.4 lbs with battery, has a 330-lb payload capacity, 180-mm hydraulic disc brakes, SR Suntour XCM32 suspension fork (80 mm travel), 27.5-inch wheels with 2.1-inch puncture-resistant tires (Slime sealant), and a rear rack. Assembly issues include a non-standard Q-Loc thru axle. The bike is nimble despite its weight, suitable for commuting and cruising.
