LACMA's David Geffen Galleries Open with Third Weekends Program of Talks, Screenings, and Events

On April 19, 2026, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will unveil its new David Geffen Galleries, accompanied by a series of Third Weekends events from April 16-20. Kicking off the programming, an online discussion on April 16 will feature Julia Latane, assistant director of art preparation, and senior associate registrar Elspeth Patient, focusing on the installation of the permanent collection. April 17 will include a dialogue on Austrian Expressionism and Otto Kallir, an exhibition called The Art of Football Boots, and a screening of the 2021 film Pelé, connected to the Fútbol Is Life exhibition. On April 18, attendees can enjoy a guided movement session, a generative writing workshop, and a film screening of Memories of Love Returned (2024) with a talk by Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine. Sunday, April 19, will feature Pop-Up Poems, a Double Dutch activation, and a gallery discussion on artistic friendships, while a sound bath in the Realms of the Dharma exhibition is planned for April 20. Member previews for the David Geffen Galleries will take place from April 19 to May 3, with events hosted across LACMA's campus, including the Resnick Pavilion, BCAM, and Smidt Welcome Plaza.
