LA Timpa Presents First UK Solo Exhibition at Cell Project Space Through May 2026

exhibition · 2026-03-15

Artist and musician LA Timpa is presenting his inaugural UK solo exhibition at Cell Project Space in London, running until May 3, 2026. The exhibition, titled 'Come Back,' features a new body of work that translates his compositional practice into spatial installations. It includes sculpture, built environments, audio, and moving image works that utilize discarded materials and obsolete technology, such as Dolby cassette recorders and flip-top phones. The show explores how sound leaves traces on physical matter and treats sculpture as resonant architecture. A central sound installation incorporates lo-fi playback equipment the artist has used for over a decade, embracing analog qualities that soften audio. The exhibition also presents the video work 'Circle' (2019) and the 'Animation Series' (2022-2023), which recontextualizes audio shorts. Curated by Milika Muritu, the work engages themes of memory, personal narrative, exile, and return through raw, organic playback methods.
