La Fura dels Baus performs 'Codice Umano' at former ceramics factory in Liguria

On June 29, 2026, the Catalan avant-garde theater company La Fura dels Baus will present 'Codice Umano,' an immersive and itinerant performance at the former Ceramica Vaccari in Santo Stefano Magra, near La Spezia. The piece explores the relationship between human creativity, physicality, and artificial intelligence, tracing the evolution from manual artistic creation to the potential replacement of human inspiration by AI. Curated by professors Italo Grassi and Flavio Lazzeri, coordinated by Fabiola Manfredi, the performance involves students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara in scenography, music, video, and acting. The event concludes the project 'COM.unità dell’arte diffusa,' led by the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara and funded by the PNRR, involving eighteen academic institutions. The project aims to create a 'community of the arts' by expanding artistic boundaries and fostering interdisciplinary research between digital, contemporary art, and technology. 'Codice Umano' avoids catastrophism, instead highlighting an open question: what remains uniquely human when machines can produce creative works?
