Kunstinstituut Melly to Present Major Moshekwa Langa Survey
On October 24, Kunstinstituut Melly in Rotterdam will unveil a significant retrospective of South African artist Moshekwa Langa, entitled 'You will find us in the best places.' This exhibition will showcase nearly 120 pieces created over the last thirty years and will fill the entire venue, marking it as the most extensive display of Langa's art in the Netherlands, where he has resided for more than 25 years. Langa rose to prominence during the early post-apartheid era in South Africa, as part of a generation of artists who embraced the newfound optimism and curiosity following years of cultural isolation. His works have gained international recognition, featuring in biennials such as the Johannesburg Biennale, Havana Biennial, and Istanbul Biennial since 1997.
