Konfekt Summer 2026 Issue Celebrates Mediterranean Coast

publication · 2026-06-05

The summer 2026 issue of Konfekt, edited by Sophie Grove, is a travel special focusing on the Mediterranean coast from Cassis eastward. A report shot by photographer Julien Oppenheim and written by contributing editor Robert Bound explores shipyards in La Ciotat, meets hosts of renovated hôtels particuliers, artichoke farmers, and natural vintners, and visits the Ricard family's private island recently reopened as a hotel with 1960s-inspired interiors. Fashion editor Daphné Hézard styled the cover at the newly renovated hotel Le Provençal on the Presqu'île de Giens, featuring a coastal pool and clay tennis court; interiors were designed by Rodolphe Parente with owners Benjamin and Damien Piffet, and an art collection curated by Julie Liger, deputy director of Villa Noailles. The issue includes a Tone section with novels inspired by hotels, an artist representing Somalia at the Venice Art Biennale, and columnist Barry Pierce on Hilma af Klint. Travel essays cover Malta's modernist heritage, the history of melons, the color turquoise, and swimming strokes. Laura Rysman reports on Sicilian family business Asciari, known for fine garments using traditional skills. Chiara Rimella's roundtable on islands was convened over lunch at an 18th-century windmill on Hydra, Greece, with panelists discussing atolls and archipelagos. The issue also references Charmian Clift's book 'Peel Me a Lotus' about 1950s Hydra.
