Khan Bonshek renovates 1981 Pyramid House in Milton Keynes with luminous birch staircase

Khan Bonshek, a studio based in London, has transformed the Pyramid House, a residence built in 1981 in Milton Keynes, UK, initially created by Wigley Fox Architects for the 'Homeworld 81' exhibition. After the property was put on the market, new owners enlisted architects Mark Bonshek and Sabba Khan for the renovation. A central staircase crafted from birch ply by Landmark Joinery was introduced to improve the original layout. The half-basement was turned into a library, and two additional sleeping pods were incorporated, bringing the total to five bedrooms. Key features like the diagonal wood cladding were preserved. The residence also received a low-energy upgrade with ground-source heat pumps, and the interior now showcases a blue-green palette, oak flooring, and custom cabinetry.
