Kevin McNamee-Tweed presents ceramic paintings and works on paper in Ghent solo exhibition

Kevin McNamee-Tweed's latest solo exhibition at TATJANA PIETERS in Ghent showcases fresh ceramic wall-hangings and paper artworks. His artistic approach delves into the significance of materials, focusing on clay and glaze. Titled 'Honey on the Wheel,' the exhibition features narrative vignettes and pattern-driven works influenced by historical design traditions. A new series merges various iconographies, such as a Bartmann jug and Buddhist symbols, with circular shapes that challenge the separation of subject and background. The paper pieces are crafted using walnut and acorn pigments on handmade paper. Residing in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, McNamee-Tweed has displayed his work at places like Mrs. Gallery and ICA Chattanooga, with reviews in Artforum and The New York Times. He will also take part in a collective exhibition at ARCO Madrid from March 4-8.
