Kevin Hatt's 1994 Portraits of Julianne Nicholson Published as Dashwood Books Zine

Kevin Hatt has published a zine named "Julianne" via Dashwood Books, showcasing his personal portraits of actress Julianne Nicholson from 1994. These photographs depict Nicholson prior to her acclaimed Emmy-winning performances in "Mare of Easttown" and "Hacks," capturing her while she modeled for friends, worked as a waitress in downtown New York at venues like Coffee Shop, Café Tabac, Bowery Bar, and Sugar Reef, and served as a fitting model for Betsey Johnson. The project was reignited when Hatt shared a photo on Instagram after spotting a Todd Oldham fashion show image on stylist Rachel Gilman's page. Following positive feedback, he consulted with Dashwood Books founder David, who proposed the zine. Taken in Washington Heights during a transformative period for Hatt's photography, the portraits reflect Nicholson's memories of gritty New York neighborhoods, where she resided in a railroad apartment on Mott Street in Little Italy, surrounded by the vibrant energy of emerging artists. This zine represents the first time these portraits have been compiled.
