Kettal and Eames Office Launch Prefabricated Pavilion System Based on Eames Architectural Vision

The Eames Office, in collaboration with Spanish outdoor furniture brand Kettal, has developed the Eames Pavilion System, a prefabricated housing solution derived from the architectural principles of Ray and Charles Eames. This kit-of-parts product will debut at 'The Eames Houses' exhibition during Milan Design Week 2026, opening on April 20 at Triennale di Milano and running through May 10. The system represents a reinterpretation of the iconic Eames House in Pacific Palisades, California, fulfilling the designers' previously unrealized ambition to create an accessible architectural system. Eames Demetrios, grandson of the designers and director of the Eames Office, emphasized that this project moves beyond mere replication to embrace the broader ideas behind their work. Product strategist Eckart Maise led research that analyzed multiple homes designed by the Eameses, identifying common modular strategies to create a universal system. Constructed with aluminum beams and featuring glass, polycarbonate, and wood panels, the system will be available in various configurations starting in early 2027. The launch connects the Eameses' architectural practice with their furniture design, highlighting their systemic thinking. The exhibition will include a fully assembled two-story structure and a demonstration of component assembly, accompanied by archival reproductions and a new Phaidon book titled 'The Eames Houses.' This initiative addresses contemporary housing challenges while preserving the designers' legacy.
