Kelsey Lu Returns with Second Album 'So Help Me God' and Film

Kelsey Lu, the North Carolina-born, Brooklyn-based cellist, singer, composer, and performance artist, releases their second full-length project 'So Help Me God' on June 12, 2026. The album arrives with a film co-directed by BAFTA-winner Savanah Leaf, starring Garance Marillier. Produced with Yves Rothman and Jack Antonoff, the ten tracks feature contributions from Kim Gordon, Kamasi Washington, and Sampha. Lu describes the seven years since their debut LP 'Blood' as a period of grieving and personal reckoning, during which they scored the A24 drama 'Earth Mama' and Netflix documentary 'Daughters', collaborated with Jamie xx and Yves Tumor, and appeared alongside Debbie Harry in Gucci's 2025 Cruise campaign shot by Nan Goldin. The album explores themes of faith, healing, and spirituality, drawing influences from Prince, Laraaji, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Three 6 Mafia, KD Lang, and Sade. Lu cites sculptor Simone Leigh as a mentor and shares that Chaka Khan advised them to 'take it all.'
