Kay WalkingStick's Mesas/Mountains/Sky solo exhibition opens at Hales Gallery in New York
Hales Gallery in New York is currently hosting "Mesas/Mountains/Sky," a solo show featuring a mix of new and recent landscape pieces by Kay WalkingStick. This marks her third exhibition with Hales. Kay, who was born in Syracuse, NY, in 1935, is part of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and has a blend of Cherokee and Anglo heritage. Throughout her remarkable 70-year career, she has delved into the American landscape, highlighting its meanings for Native Americans and the wider public. Following her participation in the 60th International Art Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia in 2024, her work is also part of the "Kay WalkingStick / Hudson River School" tour, which began at The New York Historical Society in 2023 and is now at the Heard Museum in Arizona.
