Kati Gegenheimer's 'True Blue' Exhibition Explores Love and Personal Experience Through Blue Tones

Kristen Lorello gallery is currently hosting the second solo exhibition by Philadelphia-based painter Kati Gegenheimer, titled 'True Blue.' The show features a substantial diptych on canvas along with several related paper works displayed in a neighboring gallery space. This presentation continues Gegenheimer's artistic investigation into personal encounters, affection, and emotional states, conveyed primarily through various shades of blue. Concurrently, the artist has another solo exhibition running at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) called 'We've Only Just Begun,' which was organized by curator Leah Triplett and is on view from April 12 through December 31. In her work, Gegenheimer employs gestural brushstrokes and familiar icons representing tenderness, devotion, location, and recollection, embracing an earnest approach. A central piece in the exhibition is the large diptych 'Only Children,' installed in the gallery's primary, naturally illuminated room, offering viewers an encompassing visual experience.
