Kathleen MacKenzie's Upstate Studio in Hyperallergic's 343rd Easel Series

Hyperallergic's 343rd installment of 'A View From the Easel' features mixed-media artist Kathleen MacKenzie, who converted part of her garage into a 400-square-foot studio in Rosendale, New York. She moved from a Tribeca loft in 2012 and has worked in the space for 14 years. MacKenzie works from 10am to 5pm with a lunch break, often in silence or with jazz, using Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. She values the privacy, silence, and natural light from skylights, which reflect the meditative quality of her art. She engages locally by volunteering at the Rosendale Theatre, joining the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum (WAAM), and participating in a Mid-Hudson Community Buddhist Practice. Her favorite material is video editing in Final Cut Pro for experimental video art.
