Katherine Schwarz Joins Lost Art Press as Apprentice and Editor

Katherine Schwarz, born in April 2001 and raised in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, has joined Lost Art Press as an apprentice and editor. She graduated from Spalding University in Louisville in 2023 with a degree in art, after initially being hesitant about college. During her studies, she created a still-life painting titled 'Dad's Work' featuring her father Chris Schwarz's tools and books, which was exhibited at Spalding's gallery and now hangs in the Lost Art Press shop. After college, she worked at Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati, a ceramics company founded in 1880, where she handled tile pressing and slip casting before transitioning to Lost Art Press. She signed apprenticeship papers and is building her fourth chair, which must be her own design. She also documents her experiences on the Substack 'The Anarchist's Apprentice'. Katherine's father, Chris Schwarz, is a noted woodworker and founder of Lost Art Press; her mother, Lucy May, hosts 'Cincinnati Edition' on WVXU. Katherine lives in Covington, Kentucky, with her boyfriend Gabe Gavre, who also works at Lost Art Press, and her two cats.
