Kate Fowle Appointed Director of MoMA PS1, Succeeding Klaus Biesenbach

Kate Fowle has taken over as the new director of MoMA PS1 in New York, following Klaus Biesenbach's departure. Her start comes at a time when the institution is facing more scrutiny after resolving labor issues and a lawsuit earlier this March. Previously, Fowle was the chief curator at Moscow's Garage Museum of Contemporary Art for five years, where she launched a major artist research program and oversaw the opening of Rem Koolhaas's new building. She also established the Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art in 2017. Additionally, she worked as director-at-large for Independent Curators International and began her career at Arts Council England, also spending a year in Beijing. With the Museum of Modern Art temporarily closed for renovations, Fowle aims to foster a creative environment shaped by artists' perspectives.
