Judd Foundation Appoints Alexandra Cunningham Cameron as First Director of Design

Judd Foundation has named Alexandra Cunningham Cameron as its first-ever director of design, a new role created to expand scholarship and public engagement with Donald Judd's furniture and architectural legacy. Cameron, a Wallpaper* US400 honoree, previously shaped the design market at Design Miami and served as curator of contemporary design at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. The appointment comes as the foundation prepares for the Judd Centennial in 2028, which will include exhibitions and programs in New York, Marfa, and internationally. In summer 2026, 101 Spring Street will host 'Donald Judd Furniture: Wood and Metal,' a show exemplifying Judd's ethos from his essay 'It’s Hard to Find A Good Lamp.' Cameron plans to deepen archival research in Marfa, explore Judd's land conservation work on 33,000 acres, and connect his design practice to contemporary issues like organic materials, circularity, and local production. Judd Foundation co-president Flavin Judd stated the organization needed a design director because 'design is just as important as art' to Judd's practice.
