Jorge Tacla's Four-Decade Retrospective at Sharjah Art Foundation Explores Destruction and Memory

The Sharjah Art Foundation is presenting 'Jorge Tacla: El tiempo destructor es el tiempo preservador,' a comprehensive exhibition surveying over 40 years of work by the Chilean artist. Curated by Her Highness Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, president and director of the foundation, with curatorial assistant Abdulla Aljanahi, the show features more than 170 pieces including paintings, drawings, and installations. Organized into eight thematic sections, it examines connections between destruction, historical memory, and persistence. Tacla, who has worked between Santiago and New York since 1981, investigates traces of political violence, catastrophe, and social rupture. The exhibition runs until June 7, 2026, at Al Mureijah Square Galleries in Sharjah, with free public admission.
