Jorge Satorre presents adapted exhibition at CarrerasMugica in Bilbao

Jorge Satorre's current presentation at CarrerasMugica in Bilbao adapts his exhibition "Did I say I miss you?" originally shown at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios in Dublin last summer. The main sculpture incorporates bramble branches gathered from Artxanda, creating distance from the Irish context, while insect drawings aimed for direct visitor engagement. In Bilbao, Satorre notes these distances have reversed and shortened, as he lives there and created the work with local friends, integrating memories of earlier pieces connected to the area. The series in the corridor space explores religious medals and pendants observed through magnifying glasses, changing scale to relate to church façade carvings. This approach counters the artist's lifelong experience of wearing miniature representations of strangers. The exhibition structure was produced by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios with ironwork by Adrián Castañeda. Another series, "Impulso que estás dentro, sal de mi cuerpo," was created at Iturribide Etxeagarden with support from Caniche Editorial and AC/E's PICE residencies program. Satorre describes his current artistic approach as reductive and technical, focusing on distance's role in his work to achieve mental clarity.
