John Lennon's Final Autograph and Music Memorabilia Head to London Auction

A promotional poster for the album Double Fantasy, signed by John Lennon on December 8, 1980, is scheduled for auction in London. The autograph was obtained by RKO Radio host Ron Hummel during an interview with Lennon and Yoko Ono at their Dakota Building apartment earlier that day, before Lennon's death. The poster features a photograph by Kishin Shinoyama showing the couple kissing in Central Park. It will be sold alongside archival materials from the interview at Propstore's Music Live Auction on April 30, with an estimated value between £60,000 and £120,000. The auction includes over 400 items of music memorabilia. Highlights include a Gibson Les Paul guitar used by Slash during Guns N' Roses' 2016 Not In This Lifetime tour, estimated at £150,000 to £300,000, and a golden microphone given to Freddie Mercury in 1980, estimated at £30,000 to £60,000. Other notable lots are a beige dressing gown and a 1987 Christmas card from Mercury, as well as handwritten lyrics by Paul McCartney for the song 'Goodbye' from 1969 and a signed running order sheet from The Beatles' 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Propstore's music specialist Mark Hochman described the sale as offering collectors tangible connections to significant cultural moments.
