João Teixeira Designs Multifunctional Keeper Shoe Rack Bench

Industrial designer João Teixeira has unveiled Keeper, a new furniture piece that serves as both a shoe rack and a bench. The design was created by Designed for Tomorrow Furniture and addresses habits developed during the ongoing global pandemic, specifically the practice of removing shoes at home entrances. Keeper features a soft seat with rounded corners that integrates with a recessed top, providing additional surface space for everyday items. The project brief called for a flat-pack design that is affordable, sustainable, and customizable. Teixeira employed a minimalist aesthetic with careful attention to detail, incorporating a slatted frame that creates visual contrast through sharp and soft elements as well as color variations. The design aims to offer a practical solution for contemporary living while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
