Joan Miró's 'Peinture' from Monaco to Be Auctioned in Munich

Munich auction house Karl & Faber will auction Joan Miró's 1936 painting 'Peinture' on June 11, 2025, as part of its 'Modern Art, Post War & Contemporary Art' sale. Estimated at €2.0–2.5 million, the work comes from a private collection in Monaco and is considered one of the most significant Miró pieces offered on the German auction market in over 25 years. The painting features oil, tar, and sand on fiberboard, reflecting Miró's experimental techniques. The two-day auction on June 11–12 will present around 310 works of classical modernism and postwar/contemporary art. Another highlight is Paula Modersohn-Becker's 'Zwei Mädchen an einem Birkenstamm stehend' (c. 1902), a tempera work valued at €300,000–400,000.
