Jimmy and Hisami McNeil's mineral collection to be auctioned at Heritage

Nearly 200 minerals from the legendary collection of Jimmy and Hisami McNeil will be sold at Heritage Auctions on June 27. The couple began collecting over 55 years ago after meeting in Bremerton, Washington. Jimmy McNeil started as a child in Hiddenite, North Carolina, a mineral-rich area, hunting for quartz, fossils, and gemstones. He later introduced Hisami to the hobby, and together they built an extraordinary trove through field collecting, swaps, and rock shows. The auction, titled The Collection of Jimmy & Hisami McNeil Fine Minerals Signature, features specimens from less-fertile locations, making the collection remarkable.
