Jeremy King reopens historic Simpson's in the Strand with Studio Shayne Brady redesign
Jeremy King, a restaurateur from London, has reopened Simpson's in the Strand, a renowned establishment that shut its doors in 2020. After acquiring it in 2022, King worked with Studio Shayne Brady to create a redesign that merges Victorian, Edwardian, and art deco influences. Established in 1828 and known as Simpson's Tavern since 1848, the venue gained fame for its silver trolley service. It served as a cultural landmark and was taken over by the Savoy Hotel, with its original structure demolished for the widening of the Strand. The revamped space features refreshed timber paneling, newly installed chandeliers, and contemporary artwork, housing two restaurants, two bars, and a ballroom. Executive chef David Stevens presents modern English cuisine. The Grade II-listed site at 100 Strand, London WC2R 0EZ retains its historical significance.
