Jeff Probst Says 'Survivor' Diversity Remains Unchanged Despite Paramount DEI Rollbacks
Jeff Probst, the host and showrunner of "Survivor," emphasized in an interview with The New York Times that the series remains dedicated to diversity, despite Paramount scaling back its DEI initiatives in 2025 to comply with Trump administration policies. "Nothing has changed," Probst asserted, highlighting that diversity is vital to the show's essence. He explained that it transcends mere skin color or ethnicity, calling it "one of the biggest positive changes ever." Probst noted that diverse backgrounds enrich storytelling and mentioned that he feels no pressure to reassess diversity metrics, crediting casting director Jesse Tannenbaum for understanding the importance of this approach. Since its inception in 2000, casting has evolved from seeking conflict to creating compelling narratives, especially after Probst became showrunner in 2010, aiming for a more cinematic experience.
