Jeff Koons' 'Balloon Venus' Sculpture Premieres in Athens Exhibition
The Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens is hosting an exhibition titled 'Jeff Koons: Venus Lespugue,' featuring the first public showing of Koons' 'Balloon Venus Lespugue (Orange)' sculpture created between 2013 and 2019. The display, running from March 19 to August 31, 2026, at the museum's Stathatos Mansion, includes ten replicas of ancient Venus figurines. The exhibition examines how fertility symbols have persisted across cultures and historical periods. Koons' work is inspired by the prehistoric Venus of Lespugue, an ivory carving estimated to be around 28,000 years old.
