Jean Dupas, Key Art Deco Figure, Gets First Retrospective in Bordeaux

From June 26 to November 29, 2026, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux (MusBA) will present "Jean Dupas & Co. Le grand Art déco," marking the first retrospective of Jean Dupas (1882–1964) since his passing. A prominent Bordeaux native, Dupas played a significant role in the Art Deco movement, famously decorating four pavilions at the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Curated by Margaux Wymbs, the exhibition highlights his artistic connections. Dupas studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, earned the Prix de Rome in 1910, and lived at the Villa Medici until 1920.
