Jay Morton elected next RIBA president

Jay Morton, currently a director at Bell Phillips, has been chosen as the upcoming president of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). She will assume the role of president-elect on 1 September 2026 and officially start her two-year presidency on 1 September 2027, taking over from Chris Williamson. Morton, who hosts the Architects for Change podcast and is part of the steering group for Architects' Action for Affordable Housing, garnered 4,015 votes, which is 10.87% of eligible RIBA members, an increase from last year's 9.3% turnout. She will lead the RIBA Council and join the RIBA Board of Trustees. Williamson expressed his congratulations and anticipation for continued collaboration. Established in 1835, Morton will be the 82nd elected president.
