In the historic Pulverturm tower, the Haus for Media Art Oldenburg showcases a solo exhibition by Danish-Korean artist Jane Jin Kaisen. This site-specific installation features three immersive video pieces rooted in extensive historical research: Offering (2023), Wreckage (2024), and a newly created third work that resonates with the tower's architectural features. Kaisen, who descends from the haenyeo (sea women) divers of Jeju Island, has dedicated over fifteen years to exploring their history through Korea's colonial narrative. The sea is portrayed as both a source of danger and hope—serving as a repository of memories and a channel for matrilineal wisdom. Kaisen collaborated with free divers focused on environmental conservation to create an underwater choreography. The exhibition is currently open in Oldenburg, Germany.
