Jamie Johnson's Irish Traveller Photography at Leica Gallery New York

'Growing Up Travelling', a solo exhibition by documentary photographer Jamie Johnson, will be showcased at Leica Gallery New York from July 16 to August 30, 2026. This exhibition includes photographs from his acclaimed, sold-out monograph of the same title (Kehrer Verlag, 2021), alongside new, previously unpublished pieces from his ongoing series. For more than ten years, Johnson has focused on the experiences of Irish Traveller families and children throughout Ireland. The Traveller community, recognized as an indigenous Irish ethnic group, upholds a unique cultural identity and a deep oral heritage, despite facing significant discrimination and social marginalization. Johnson's long-term engagement allows him to portray the intimate aspects of their daily lives, resilience, and traditions.
