Jake Xerxes Fussell Releases New Album "The Old Beloved Path" on Fat Possum Records
Jake Xerxes Fussell has unveiled his latest album, "The Old Beloved Path," through Fat Possum Records. This work showcases his unique take on traditional tunes, infusing them with personal narratives. Inspired by Lonnie Donegan's rendition, he reimagines "Rock Island Line" by merging it with an English nursery rhyme. Having grown up in Georgia, he was deeply influenced by traditional culture. Fussell believes that songs are essential to folk identity, balancing between conservative and innovative interpretations. The album was recorded in North Carolina and features artists like Dominic Billett and Isa Burke. He has scheduled performances in Germany on December 9 in Hamburg, December 10 in Berlin, and December 11 in Cologne. The album cover, captured by Fred Fussell in the early 1980s, complements the release. EAN: 0767981189116.
