Jain Community Center in Kolkata Features Meditative Lighting and Traditional Brocade

Spaces and Design, a local studio, has completed Sangha Bhawan, a Jain community center in central Kolkata. The 1,672-square-meter facility was commissioned by the Acharya Mahapragya Mahashraman Education & Research Foundation (AMMERF). The design incorporates regional craftsmanship and natural materials like stone, wood, rattan, and clay, with an earthy color palette to reflect Jain values of simplicity and peace. Key features include sculptural lighting from Crescent Lite and Oorjaa, and decorative Banarasi brocade panels sourced locally. The center includes a reception, cafe, restaurant, and banquet hall for religious and cultural events.
