Jacques Henri Lartigue's Color Photography Revealed in Major MK Gallery Exhibition

From 20 June to 4 October, MK Gallery will host "Jacques Henri Lartigue: Life in Colour," showcasing over 150 color photographs and drawings that have never been displayed before. This exhibition redefines Lartigue's legacy, moving beyond the perception of him solely as a black-and-white photographer by highlighting vivid color images from his extensive archive of 120,000 photographs. Born in Courbevoie in 1894, Lartigue started taking pictures at the age of six and began exploring color in his teenage years. His diverse portfolio includes family portraits, motor racing, aviation, and abstract floral compositions. After a period focused on painting in the 1930s, he returned to photography post-WWII, achieving significant acclaim in 1963 with a major exhibition at MoMA. Lartigue mingled with notable artists like Picasso and Cocteau, reflecting joy in his creations.
