Italy's Venice Biennale Pavilion Revealed Amid Controversy Over Russia's Return

The Italian Pavilion for the 2026 Venice Biennale has been presented, featuring artist Chiara Camoni and curator Cecilia Canziani. The exhibition, titled 'Con te con tutto,' emphasizes collective practice and shared experience, aligning with the Biennale's theme 'In minor keys.' It will run from May 9 to November 22, 2026. The announcement was overshadowed by political tensions, as Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli expressed opposition to the Biennale's decision to reopen the Russian Pavilion, which has been absent since the invasion of Ukraine. Biennale President Pietrangelo Buttafuoco defended the institution's autonomy and addressed criticism over the lack of Italian artists in the main exhibition, citing the late curator Koyo Kouoh's passing. The Italian Pavilion project includes contributions from additional curators and artists, supported by sponsors Zegna and Banca Ifis.
