Italian TV host Patrizia Caselli dies at 66

Italian television host, actress, and singer Patrizia Caselli died Wednesday at age 66 from lung cancer, which she first disclosed in a 2024 interview with Corriere della Sera. Her family confirmed the news to ANSA. Caselli was best known for her appearances on generalist TV programs in the 1980s and 1990s, including Chi tiriamo in ballo?, Bella d'estate, and Detto tra noi on Rai 2. She also hosted the quiz Se fosse… during Raffaella Carrà's show Ricomincio da Due. An actress in theater and two 2000s films—La fabbrica del vapore by Ettore Pasculli and Dentro la città by Andrea Costantini—Caselli was born in Udine. Her long relationship with actor and host Walter Chiari, and later with socialist leader Bettino Craxi, also drew public attention.
