Italian police raid Bulgari, Chanel over Chinese worker exploitation

On Thursday, Italian law enforcement conducted a raid on the corporate offices of several luxury brands, including Bulgari and Chanel, as part of an investigation into the treatment of Chinese laborers by subcontractors. Milan’s prosecutor, Paolo Storari, confirmed the operation, which included other notable brands such as Brunello Cucinelli and Moncler. Although these companies are not currently being investigated, Cucinelli expressed concern over finding improper workplace conditions, despite previous audits. This action follows a crackdown in December 2022 targeting 13 other luxury labels for similar labor issues, revealing ongoing concerns about worker conditions within Italy’s fashion industry.
