Irina Werning Photographs Animals and Their People at UK Country Shows

Irina Werning's photo series documents animals and their owners at agricultural shows across the United Kingdom, with additional images from Argentina. The photographs capture a Leicester longwool sheep at the Tendring show in Manningtree, Essex, and a whiteface Dartmoor sheep at the Kent county show in Maidstone. At the Chertsey show in Surrey, a fancy horse competition is depicted, while unusual headwear appears at the London pet show. In Farringdon, London, a dog and its owner wear matching Crocs. A Morris dancer is shown at the Bucks county show in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, where ginger hair is compared. The Tendring show also features an Aldabra giant tortoise. Highland cattle appear at the Moreton show in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. At the London pet show, a snake with its owner and a snake slithering across its owner's hand are captured, along with a parrot and owner. A Gloucestershire old spot pig is seen at the Egham royal show in Surrey. The Edenbridge and Oxted show in Kent includes a fancy dress horse and a chicken section. Holstein friesian cows are at the Bucks county show, and Holstein friesian cattle are at the Tendring show. A Connemara pony is at the Kent county show. The series also includes images from Argentina: the Nuestros Caballos show in Buenos Aires in 2025, with cool sunglasses at the Chertsey show in 2026, and the La Rural show in Buenos Aires in 2024.
