Iragüen Viñuela Arquitectos Designs Coastal Residence in Algarrobo for Relocating Couple

Architecture firm Iragüen Viñuela Arquitectos completed Casa SI, a residential project in the coastal town of Algarrobo, Chile, in 2023. The 187-square-meter house was commissioned by a couple relocating from Iquique to be closer to their children residing in Santiago, facilitating more frequent family visits. The design brief called for a relaxed, beach-oriented dwelling that would be easy to inhabit and encourage social gatherings. The clients desired spaces suitable for hosting guests, cooking, dining together, watching films, listening to music, observing the horizon, and enjoying natural surroundings in various group configurations—whether with family, as a couple, or with their granddaughter. The project team included designers Daniel Iragüen, Claudio Viñuela, Gustavo Schweitzer, Vicente de la Maza, María José Çaldumbide, Alexa Napp, and Víctor Cárcamo. Structural calculations were handled by Roberto Stocker Lagos, while utility projects were managed by specialists: Marcelo Santibañez for sewer and potable water systems, and Manuel González Ponce for gas installations. Topographic services were provided by Enrique Osorio, and construction was executed by Mario Cuevas. Timber Ingeniería was responsible for prefabrication and structural machining. Photography documenting the project was credited to Pablo Casals Aguirre, and the description was submitted by the project team.
